Indonesia Equips Frigates, Corvette with Stealth Radars

The Indonesian Navy (Tentera Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut: TNI-AL) will equip a total of four Ahmad Yani (Van Speijk)-class guided missile frigates and one Kapitan Pattimura (Parchim I)-class corvette with low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) naval radars.

The radars will be built by Indonesian naval sensor manufacturer PT Infra RCS, company officials told [i>IHS Jane’s on 11 April.

The company describes its equipment, the IRCS LPI Radar, as a stealthy sea-based X-band (SBX) radar with frequency modulated continuous wave technology.

“It has a maximum power output of only 10 W, making it quiet and virtually invisible to radar warning receivers on enemy vessels”, said Prihatno Susanto, Technical Advisor for the company. “This allows our warships to detect hostile surface combatants without being discovered”.

The IRCS LPI Radar has an effective range of 24 n miles and is equipped with tracking software known as Maritime Tracking Aid that allows for automatic radar plotting aid functionality. The system’s antenna rotates at 20 rpm and has a gain of about 30dB.

The radar is available as a stand-alone system but can also be integrated with a vessel’s electronic chart display and information system (IRCS) and combat management system.

The vessels now equipped with the radar are the guided missile frigates KRI Ahmad Yani and KRI Abdul Halim Perdanakusuma. Both began upgrade works in December 2013. Undergoing the equipment fixture currently are similar vessels in class KRI Yos Sudarso , KRI Oswald Siahaan and the Kapitan Pattimura-class corvette KRI Sultan Taha .


Besides LPI naval radars, the company has also won a contract to equip Oswald Siahaan and Yos Sudarso with naval electronic support measures (ESM) systems that can detect electromagnetic emissions from electronic devices on enemy ships such as radar, communications equipment, jammers and missile targeting systems.

“The IRCS ESM has electronic intelligence (ELINT) capabilities that can pick up signals emitted by hostile warships from up to 90 n miles away via a passive radar”, said Susanto. “Once these electromagnetic emissions are detected, a computer software that comes with the system will be able to identify, classify and pin-point the exact location of the source for commanders to take action.”

The company has indicated that it is currently embarking on an effort to market both systems internationally.

KKIP: Belum Ada Pembicaraan Soal Ekspor Rudal C705 Versi Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Juru bicara Komite Kebijakan Industri Pertahanan (KKIP) RI, Silmy Karim menampik pemberitaan yang diluncurkan media Taiwan, Senin (3/3) kemarin.

Di situ disebutkan, Pemerintah Cina menuntut uang tambahan dari Indonesia atas rencana ekspor rudal antikapal C705 produksi sendiri ke pasar luar negeri. Prototipe rudal C705 sejatinya adalah buatan Cina.

“Belum ada pembicaraan soal itu (rencana penjualan rudal C705 produksi sendiri ke luar negeri). Yang ada baru pembahasan tentang produksi misil untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kita (Indonesia) saja,” kata Silmy saat dikonfirmasi ROL, Selasa (4/4).

Media di Taiwan, Want China Times, sebelumnya menyebutkan Indonesia membeli 40 rudal antikapal C705 dari Cina. Hal ini diungkapkan dalam pertemuan antara para pejabat tinggi militer Cina dan Indonesia yang dipimpin oleh Kepala Staf Umum Tentara Rakyat Cina Jenderal Fang Fenghui dan Panglima TNI Jenderal Moeldoko, di Beijing, akhir bulan lalu.

Want China Times menuliskan, pembelian misil tersebut awalnya direncanakan untuk melengkapi sejumlah kapal cepat rudal (KCR-40) milik TNI Angkatan Laut RI.

Rudal C705 sendiri dirancang dan diproduksi oleh perusahaan industri pertahanan yang berbasis di Beijing, Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. 

Akan tetapi, tulis laman Taiwan itu lagi, Cina ternyata menolak menyerahkan teknologi (ToT) C705 sepenuhnya ke Indonesia. Ini dikarenakan masih banyaknya negara lain yang mencari atau membeli senjata canggih tersebut dari negeri tirai bambu. 

Beijing malah meminta biaya tambahan dari RI untuk mengamankan hak memproduksi rudal C705 sendiri. Namun, hal ini juga dibantah Silmy. Menurut dia, Cina menyerahkan sepenuhnya teknologi C705 kepada Indonesia. 

“Jadi, tidak ada masalah sebenarnya. Saya malah jadi bertanya, media itu mengambil perkataan saya dari mana? Saya sendiri tidak ikut ke Beijing (menemani Panglima TNI Moeldoko),” jelas Silmy.

Kamaz to Assemble Trucks in Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – The Russian truck company, Kamaz, plans to assemble and distribute its product in Indonesia and ASEAN region in coordination with local company PT Tehnika Ina.

“We have agreed to marketing Kamaz trucks in the ASEAN region and to assemble the product starting on September 2014 in Indonesia,” the President of PT Tehnika Ina, Panca Tazakka, said here on Tuesday.

According to him, there are four types of trucks which are ready to be marketed in Indonesia.

In the meantime he said Kamaz will provide trucks in the first quarter of 2014 which are completely built-up until September.

“Kamaz will provide completely built-up trucks for the first quarter of 2014. We hope the Tehnika Ina can assemble the 4×4 and 6×4 truck types on September 2014,” Panca said.

He added PT Tehnika Ina will cooperate with PT Pindad to assemble the trucks in Bandung, Indonesia.

Panca said the total sales target for Kamaz trucks in 2014 is set at 500 units.

“We are cooperating with PT Pindad to assemble the truck in Indonesia. We believe that Kamaz has its own consumers due to its capability in various applications,” Panca said.

PT Tehnika Ina will distribute Kamaz trucks in Indonesia, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and Brunei Darussalam.

The company will also provide the spare parts of the trucks which are potential to be made in Indonesia after Kamaz gives the license.

The Kamaz and PT Tehnika Ina have agreed on the cooperation after following Intergovernmental Russian-Indonesian Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation in Jakarta.

Russias Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday along with 40 business persons from Russia to explore the potential cooperation with Indonesia.


The delegation was welcomed by Economic Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa and other related business parties including Indonesian state officials and private executives.

Indonesia Segera Miliki Rudal Penangkis Serangan Udara Buatan Sendiri

Liputan6.com, Jakarta : Perang di era modern tak lagi saling berhadapan. Tapi melibatkan persenjataan canggih, termasuk rudal. Sekali tembak, nyawa ribuan orang di posisi target, yang jauhnya ratusan hingga ribuan kilometer, niscaya terancam.

Maka dari itu, rudal penangkal sebagai sistem pertahanan alternatif, menjadi wajib dimiliki. Saat ini, TNI Angkatan Udara, Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (Lapan), dan PT Dahana, sedang mengembangkan rudal Penangkis Serangan Udara (PSU) jarak sedang. Senjata anti-rudal ini akan dikembangkan dari roket-roket yang telah berhasil dibuat Lapan.

Lapan telah berhasil meluncurkan beberapa tipe roket seperti RX-420 yang memiliki daya jangkau di atas 100 km. Lapan juga sedang mengembangkan roket berdaya jangkau 200 km lebih yaitu RX-550.

“Iya dari pengembangan roket Lapan sebelumnya. Mereka sudah berhasil, peluncurannya sudah lurus. Cuman isiannya, pendorongnya itu masih dikembangkan terus,” ucap Kadispen TNI AU Marsekal Pertama (Marsma) Hadi Tjahjanto saat dihubungi, Jakarta, Selasa (25/02/2014).

Hadi menambahkan, saat ini permasalahan untuk rudal penangkis udara terjadi pada propelannya. Rencananya beberapa tahun ke depan propelan ini sudah bisa diperbaiki dan dilakukan uji coba kembali.

“2 atau 3 tahun ke depan isiannya atau propelannya itu sudah ditemukan akan dibuat uji coba lagi. Kalau memang bagus akan ditawarkan pada BUMN atau Bumnis (Badan Usaha Milik Negara Industri Strategis),” imbuh pria berkumis ini.

Apakah pengembangan ini untuk rudal jarak sedang atau jauh? “Nanti kalau propelannya itu sudah teruji tinggal isiannya mau dibuat jarak sedang atau jauh. Kalau nama rudal nunggu sudah jadi baru dari BUMN dengan Kemenhan yang nanti ngasih nama rudalnya,” jawab Hadi.

Saat ini TNI AU hanya memiliki PSU yang aktif dari kelas jarak pendek seperti Oerlikon, Starstrek, VL Mica dan lain-lain. Kepala Staf Angkatan Udara, Marsekal TNI Ida Bagus Putu Dunia menuturkan saat ini pihaknya sedang menjajaki PSU untuk jarak sedang. Rencana ini akan disusun di Minimum Esential Force (MEF) rentra kedua (2015-2019).

“Untuk 10 sampai 100 km itu perlu kendali jarak sedang, sekarang kita lagi diproses. Mudah-mudahan segera melengkapi sistem pertahanan kita,” kata Putu saat menerima 16 unit pesawat T-50i dari Korea Aerospace Industry (KAI) di Lanud Halim Perdakusuma, Jakarta Timur, Kamis 13 Februari 2014.

PTDI and Airbus Helicopters to Jointly Develop Local Support and Services Capabilities for Indonesia

The long-established cooperation of PT Dirgantara Indonesia and Airbus Helicopters will be expanded to include support and services for the users of Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft based on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed today at the Singapore Airshow.

This MoU covers maintenance, repair and overhaul for the various Airbus Helicopters products operated within Indonesia – in particular, the AS365 Dauphin, EC725 Cougar and AS350/AS555 Fennec rotorcraft acquired by the country’s government.

The agreement was signed by Budi Santoso, President Director of PT Dirgantara Indonesia, and Airbus Helicopters President Guillaume Faury.

“PT Dirgantara Indonesia’s cooperation with Airbus Helicopters results from a long term relationship built on trust, and each company will support the other with this new strategic collaboration for the mutual benefit of both parties,” Budi Santoso said.

“We’re opening another chapter in a highly successful cooperation that is important for Airbus Helicopters’ global industrial footprint,” Faury added. “PT Dirgantara Indonesia is one of our cornerstone partners, and I look forward to pursuing this new aspect of our relationship together.”

The two companies’ partnership began in the 1970s with PT Dirgantara Indonesia’s licensed production of the N-BO105 helicopter – of which 120 were built in-country. It subsequently was widened with licensed production of the N-SA330 Puma and N-AS332 Super Puma rotorcraft.

Additionally, the Indonesian company has been supplying upper and lower fuselage sections and tail booms for the EC725/EC225 since 2012 for a total production currently set at 125 shipsets. It also serves as the customization and delivery center for AS365 N3+ Dauphin, EC725 Cougar and AS350/AS555 Fennec helicopters ordered by the Indonesian government through PT Dirgantara Indonesia.

Surabaya – 15 Januari 2014, Dalam rangka ikut berperan aktif dalam memodernisasi dan memenuhi kebutuhan alat utama sistem persenjataan (Alutsista), PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) sebagai Lead Integrator Alutsista matra laut menggelar acara seremoni First Steel Cutting kapal jenis Perusak Kawal Rudal 105 Meter (PKR/Frigate ke-1), yang berlangsung pada hari Rabu, 15 Januari 2014, terpusat di Dermaga Kapal Perang.

Seremoni First Steel Cutting ini menjadi begitu penting mengingat Kapal perang pesanan TNI Angkatan Laut jenis PKR / Frigate ke-1  ini merupakan pengembangan Proyek Nasional dan menjadi salah satu andalan dalam mengawal keamanan wilayah laut perairan Indonesia. DSNS Starts Steel Cutting for Sigma 10514 PKR (Perusak Kawal Rudal) Frigate

In June 2012, the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) signed the contract for the first SIGMA 10514 PKR Frigate.

In accordance with the agreed planning for the construction of this frigate, the Steel Cutting Ceremony took place simultaneously on 15 January 2014 at PT PAL (Persero) Shipyard in Surabaya (Indonesia) and DSNS in Vlissingen (the Netherlands).

DSNS will build two modules and subsequently ship them to the yard in Surabaya. The simultaneous construction and testing of the modules at two different locations signifies the unique modular building strategy of Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding; a method unparalleled in the naval shipbuilding industry.

All modules will be assembled at the PT PAL(Persero) Shipyard under main contractorship of DSNS followed by Harbour Acceptance Tests and Sea Acceptance Trials. 

Second Frigate

The engineering process for the second SIGMA 10514 PKR frigate, for which the contract was signed 14 February 2014, proceeds as scheduled and construction is foreseen to start in approximately 6 months.

Scope

The acquisition of the SIGMA 10514 PKR Frigate is part of the further modernization and expansion of the Indonesian Navy, TNI-AL. The main missions and tasks of the SIGMA PKR 10514 will be in the domains of naval warfare as well as Maritime Security missions and tasks. Also, the vessel may be used for humanitarian support tasks.

Indonesia Orders ForceShield Integrated Air Defence System and Starstreak Missiles

Thales UK today announced that it has signed a contract worth over £100 million with the Indonesian Ministry of Defence for ForceSHIELD, Thales’s integrated Advanced Air Defence system.

In addition to the supply of STARStreak short-range air defence missiles, the system comprises CONTROLMaster200 radar and weapon coordination systems, RAPIDRanger mobile weapon systems and Lightweight Multiple Launchers (LML), as well as associated communications, training and support equipment.

Indonesia dan Korea Selatan Lanjutkan Proyek Jet Tempur KFX

Merdeka.com – Pemerintah Indonesia dan Korea Selatan sepakat melanjutkan kembali proyek jet tempur Korean Fighter Xperiment (KFX)/Indonesian Fighter Xperiment (IFX). Sebelumnya pemerintah Korsel sempat menghentikan proyek ini secara sepihak. 

“Ada berita gembira pengembangan pesawat KFX/IFX dilanjutkan. Beberapa waktu lalu berhenti, tetapi sekarang sudah disetujui parlemen Korea Selatan dan ditindaklanjuti,” kata Menteri Pertahanan Purnomo Yusgiantoro di Jakarta, Selasa (7/1).

Proyek bersama yang dimulai pada 2011 lalu telah berhasil menyelesaikan tahap pertama Technology Development Phase (TD Phase) pada Desember 2012. Indonesia telah mengirim 37 insinyur ke Korsel.

Menurut Menhan, tidak ada perubahan dalam kerja sama dengan Korsel, meski proyek bersama itu sempat tertunda lantaran ada pergantian pemerintahan baru dan parlemen baru.

“Mereka minta ke kita dan ternyata sudah diuji. Keputusannya sudah ‘On’. Apa yang kami lakukan dulu kita lanjutkan ke tahap berikutnya, akhir rensra kedua kita sudah punya prototipe KFX dan IFX,” tuturnya.

Wakil Menteri Pertahanan, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin menambahkan, Kemhan menerima surat konfirmasi dari Korsel pada 3 Januari 2014 tentang kepastian dilanjutkannya proyek bersama itu.

Dalam surat konfirmasi itu disebutkan, budjet tahun 2015 sudah diputuskan parlemen Korea Selatan bahwa akan mengeluarkan anggaran untuk KFX 20 juta dolar AS dan Indonesia sebesar 5 juta dolar AS.

“Tahun 2015, kita masuki ‘development manufacturing’, sehingga pada 2014 ini kita akan segera siapkan personel engineering kita. Desain center Indonesia di Bandung akan kembali bekerja aktif 2015,” paparnya.

Pesawat tempur KFX adalah pesawat tempur generasi 4,5 atau setingkat dengan pesawat F-18 milik Amerika Serikat. Artinya, pesawat ini lebih canggih dari pesawat tempur yang dimiliki Indonesia, termasuk pesawat F-16 dan Sukhoi.

PAL Indonesia Luncurkan Kapal Cepat Rudal 60 Meter (KCR-60) Pesanan TNI AL

PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) kembali meluncurkan kapal pesanan TNI-AL jenis Kapal Cepat Rudal 60 Meter (KCR-60). Kapal perang ini merupakan kapal pertama dari 3 kapal yang dipesan untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan TNI AL. Sebagai Lead Integrator Industri Pertahanan Nasional dalam bidang Matra Laut, PAL Indonesia terus mengembangkan kemampuannya untuk memproduksi Kapal Perang maupun Kapal Niaga. Hal tersebut terbukti dengan produksi kapal pertama ini sebagai hasil dari pengembangan dari beragam Kapal Patroli Cepat (Fast Patrol Boat) yang telah diproduksi sebelumnya.

Dalam acara peluncuran kapal pertama ini dihadiri Asisten Logistik KASAL, Laksamana Muda TNI Suyitno, Jajaran Perwira Tinggi Markas Besar TNI AL, Baranahan Kemhan, para petinggi Komando Armada Timur dan LANTAMAL V Surabaya. Berikut juga hadir Dewan Komisaris dan Manajemen PT PAL Indoensia (Persero) serta undangan dan mitra kerja. Setelah penandatanganan berita acara peluncuran Kapal kemudian dilanjutkan peninjauan proses produksi kapal KCR 60 Meter yang kedua dan ketiga, yang telah mencapai pengerjaan hampir 80 persen dan 70 persen. Menurut Asisten Logistik KASAL, Laksamana Muda TNI Suyitno, kebutuhan KCR 60 Meter sangat diperlukan karena kapal ini akan diandalkan dalam meningkatkan keamanan dan kedaulatan Bangsa.

“Kedepan bukan hanya Kapal ukuran 60 Meter saja dan akan terus ditingkatkan dimasa mendatang. Selanjutnya akan diproduksi Kapal 105 Meter dengan keunggulan yang berbeda dan secara terus menerus akan meningkatkan kemampuan Bangsa” tutur ASLOG KASAL. Kapal Cepat Rudal ini adalah hasil karya anak Bangsa sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan industri galangan dalam negeri agar tidak bergantung pada Kapal Produk luar.

Direktur Utama PT PAL Indonesia (Persero), Firmansyah Arifin dalam sambutannya menuturkan beberapa keunggulan produk KCR 60 meter yang akan digunakan dalam mengamankan batas wilayah Indonesia. “Kapal ini sepenuhnya dikerjakan oleh anak bangsa dibawah bimbingan dan supervisi dari MABES TNI AL. … PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) dapat berkarya dengan sebaik-baiknya bahwa produk-produk anak bangsa tidak kalah dengan produk-produk import lainnya” tandasnya.

Konsistensi PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) dalam mendukung kemandirian bangsa untuk pengadaan Alutsista maupun modernisasi Alutsista terus ditingkatkan. Baik dalam bidang teknologi, fasilitas maupun SDM yang telah memiliki kebanggaan dalam menciptakan produk yang berperan dalam menciptakan keamanan dan martabat bangsa serta penghematan Devisa Negara.

Kapal Cepat Rudal 60 Meter (KCR-60) ini merupakan hasil desain sendiri dan dibangun seluruhnya oleh PT PAL Indonesia (Persero).

Indonesia Orders Tracked Armoured Vehicles From Rheinmetall

The Indonesian Ministry of Defence has contracted with the Rheinmetall Group of Düsseldorf to supply it with tracked armoured vehicles, logistical support and ammunition worth roughly €216 million.

The contract, which was signed in December 2012, now comes into full force following the successful completion of all legal formalities.

Along with 103 thoroughly overhauled and modernized Leopard 2 main battle tanks, the order encompasses 42 upgraded Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles and 11 various armoured recovery and engineering vehicles, plus associated documentation, training equipment and additional logistical support. Furthermore, the order includes an initial supply of practice and service ammunition. Indonesia thus becomes the 18th Leopard 2 MBT user nation.

Delivery to the Indonesian Army will take place progressively during the 2014-2016 timeframe.

With a population of some 240 million, Indonesia is one of the world’s largest democracies. It plays an increasingly important role as a regional superpower and source of stability in South East Asia. The decision to procure these vehicles reflects Indonesia’s need to modernize its ability to respond to potential threats to its territorial integrity. Moreover, in order to take part in UN peacekeeping and peace enforcement missions, Indonesia requires equipment that corresponds to the military standards of its partner nations.

Rheinmetall has over forty years’ experience in developing and manufacturing main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and related combat support systems. The Leopard 2 continues to set the standard for modern MBTs, with over 3,600 now in service.

The Rheinmetall Group played a decisive part in developing and producing Leopard 2 tanks ordered by the armed forces of Germany and the Netherlands. Of the 2,125 A4 versions of the Leopard 2 built, Rheinmetall completely manufactured 977 of these systems in Kiel, all of which went to the German and Dutch armies.
